Until 16th March 2014 – including the two weekends – you can book an off-peak day return online, for travel from London to Kent, for a mere £10 in the Southeastern rail sale. This is very exciting news.
Head to the Southeastern trains website and select either ‘return’ – keeping the dates in both the outward and return boxes the same as each other, or just select ‘open return’ and the date you want to travel out on. Then the elusive £10 off-peak day return fares will be revealed, allowing you to enjoy a magical day trip to a beautiful part of the great British coast.
Perhaps you will go London to Dover to see the White Cliffs. Or London to Margate to visit the Turner Contemporary gallery and the famous grotto.
Wherever you go, do have a splendid time.
Trains to the Kent coast from London, with Southeastern trains, leave from all over the place. London terminals on the High Speed Line go from St. Pancras International and Stratford to Margate, Dover Priory and Folkestone West and Folkestone Central. London terminals on the Chatham Line include Victoria, Cannon Street and London Bridge for trains to Margate, Deal and Dover Priory. London terminals on the Ashford line go from Charing Cross, Waterloo East, Cannon Street and London Bridge to Folkestone West, Folkestone Central, Dover Priory and Deal. Sound complicated? Well, it can be to non-commuter types – but there are route maps online and people around to ask at the stations if you aren’t sure. The ones not scratching their heads, preferably.
